The year that was: Optus
In this series, Computerworld takes a look into the major events of 2009 which shaped Australian telcos.
Optus joined seven other ISPs and participated in the Federal Government’s controversial Internet filtering trial.
The trial was part of the Government's $128 million Plan for Cyber Safety, which will impose national content filtering for all Internet connections and will block Web pages detailed in a blacklist operated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
Optus’ decision to join was criticized by some.
