Silver Peak awarded multiple patents for accelerating data movement over distance

SYDNEY, June 28, 2012—Silver Peak Systems today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company four new patents for its software that accelerates data movement over distance. The patented software enables businesses to simplify and lower the costs for critical IT initiatives such as disaster recovery, data centre virtualisation and cloud computing. The new patents awarded include:

• US Patent #8,171,238: “Identification of Data Stored in Memory”

• US Patent #8,095,774: “Pre-Fetching Data into a Memory”

• US Patent #7,948,921: “Automatic Network Optimization”

• US Patent #7,945,736: “Dynamic Load Management of Network Memory”

Enterprises must constantly move data from data centres to offsite locations for critical IT initiatives such as disaster recovery and for providing distributed users with fast access to data.
