UXC Connect secures four contracts, worth $8 million, to deliver high-quality entertainment projects to campsites in the Pilbara, Western Australia
Sydney, Australia, 8th February, 2012 – UXC Connect has today announced it has been selected to provide its Campsite Entertainment Solution to thousands of workers located in four remote mining camps across the Pilbara in Western Australia. The contracts, worth over $8 million, reinforce UXC Connect’s position as the market leader in delivering entertainment systems for the resource and energy industry.
UXC Connect will roll out its Entertainment & Content solution to more than 3,000 rooms across four campsite locations in the Pilbara region. The new Entertainment & Content solutions will deliver IPTV, video-on-demand, IP telephony, internet to the room capabilities and internet kiosks located in common areas across an IP network, with the new projects set to commence implementation in early 2012 and are expected to be completed by June 2012.
Two of the contracts secured by UXC Connect were granted by Pindan, an award-winning construction company that is building and designing the mining campsites across the remote regions of Western Australia.
UXC Connect has emerged as the leader in providing lifestyle entertainment solutions to the Mining, Oil and Gas sector, now supporting more than 10,000 rooms across Western Australia and Queensland. The scope for further growth in this sector is substantial, as is the opportunity to continue to grow market share.
Mike Stegena, Director of Titan ICT Consultants, said that UXC Connect’s solutions cover the requirements across a range of camps — from “fly camps” to “permanent village” solutions — and they are fully scalable for deployment in any location.
“UXC Connect is a global leader in resource and energy entertainment systems, using robust and resilient Gigabit Passive Optical Network technology, the same technology used for the NBN, as the foundation of its offering. By employing the latest core infrastructure and a complete end-to-end solution, this has enabled UXC Connect to cement itself as the key player in the entertainment and telecommunications markets for the Mining, Oil and Gas sector.”
According to Ian Poole, CEO of UXC Connect, the contracts leverage more than ten years’ experience in delivering in-room entertainment to four and five star hotels and represent a growing need for employers to accommodate the needs of remote workers.
“UXC Connect was selected because of our extensive infrastructure skills, strong technical expertise and proven experience in delivering high-quality entertainment solutions in these remote regional communities,” said Poole. “UXC Connect is delighted to be working closely with Pindan to deliver our innovative solutions into these vital projects, that provide a valuable resource to the mining camps and adds great value to the remote workers so they can keep in touch with their families and communities at home.”
