Letter: Who ya gonna call?
Computerworld Staff 28/09/2005 15:04:46

Gartner reckons techies are a dying breed. (CW, September 21, 2005, p6). Who do they suggest maintains all of our IT systems? How about the accountant downstairs in finance or maybe we could ask the temp working on reception? Sound silly? Surely my suggestions are pearls of wisdom compared to some of Gartner's predictions. I agree business skills today are a must, but not at the expense of technical skills. Gartner did get one point right - that the CIO is the hardest job in the enterprise. Well, certainly too hard for a techie! Thanks for a great magazine.
