Tasmanian agency implements system to manage 700 contracts
Solution used by 150 organisations

Open Windows has won a contract to provide the Department of Infrastructure, Energy & Resources (DIER) Tasmania with a contract life-cycle management software solution.

DIER operates in a largely outsourced environment and has spent more than two years sourcing a complete agency solution to manage its road construction and maintenance, professional services, bus services and other contracts with various suppliers.

In total the agency manages over 700 contracts with an estimated annual value of around $200 million.

As a result DIER was seeking a solution that could manage a diverse range of agreements; from the smaller contracts with suppliers such as stationers, to large road works contracts in a single, central repository.

The system also needed to be flexible enough to allow off-site workers to access via wireless laptops and Web browsers, and adhere to government procurement guidelines by ensuring no renewals or milestones are missed.

Open Windows replaces a previous solution and has been specifically customised for DIER and integrated with existing finance and document management software.

Founded in 1994, Open Windows is used by over 150 companies and governments, including ING, Bluescope Steel, and the Western Australian government. The systems have an estimated 5,000 users per day, and manage in excess of $30 billion dollars in agreements.
