Australian Vintage (formerly McGuigan Simeon Wines Ltd) CIO Ryan Klose has embarked on a supply chain makeover which includes automating stock control in a bid to reduce IT development and maintenance costs.
Klose is working with Renewtek to roll out BEA Systems' WebLogic Integration 8.1 Service Pack 6.
He said the solution will further streamline the supply chain to proactively meet changes in customer orders.
"This is a sophisticated solution that can cope with complex automation and tracking processes," Klose said.
"As Australia's second largest vineyard owner, we have a huge amount of wine stock to manage.
"With WebLogic we can effectively plan, control, and manage stock by coordinating administration systems with our distribution partners."
BEA A/NZ managing director, Ali Al-Tarafi, said Australian Vintage demonstrates how a flexible SOA environment can integrate and refine a range of diverse systems, which will ultimately generate tangible business benefits.
By building an adaptable SOA environment, he said the company will be able to extend existing skill sets, gain more proactive control of its stock, monitor Service Level Agreements in real-time and tailor order fulfilment to meet the needs of its customers.
Renewtek CEO, Fergus Porter, said Australian Vintage has a very strong vision and culture for embracing the technology required to build a flexible business foundation, which will put them ahead of the industry.
This solution, Porter added, helps the company deliver on its objectives for strategic business advantage by rapidly integrating and assembling business functionality to speed up project completion.

Controlling storage costs with Oracle database 11g
Organisations must embrace new ways of storing data that don't involve adding more of the same hardware to accommodate data growth and dealing with duplication as well as uncompressed information. Simple steps such as tiering storage, moving data across these tiers and reducing the amount of data to be managed, can dramatically reduce capital and operating expenses. Read on to learn how to implement these steps in your business.
