NetIQ expands Australian operation - Regional director, marketing manager and northern regional manager add weight to Australian team
29/10/2003 11:32:30

NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems & Security Management and Web Analytics solutions today announced that it has expanded its Australian office with three new appointments. § David Taylor has been appointed regional director, Australia and New Zealand, § Emma Duncan as marketing manager, Australia and New Zealand, and § Tim Mahony as northern regional manager of Australia. The appointments come on the back of new business growth, driven by an increased focus among Australian and New Zealand companies towards cost-effective management solutions.

As regional director of the Australia and New Zealand region, David Taylor will be charged with growing and managing business across the region. Previously chief operating officer for wireless hotspot start up Azure Wireless, David was responsible for implementing a “go to market” strategy for the company, as well as negotiating major marketing promotions and reseller agreements with ISPs and major International Roaming Companies. David brings more than 15 years of local and international technology experience to NetIQ, including serving in regional senior management roles for MapInfo Australia and Compuware Corporation.

Building on experience gained with some of NetIQ’s largest accounts, former regional director for NetIQ, Jeff Hyde, has elected to move into a global account management role for the company. Jeff has managed the region since NetIQ opened offices in Australia in 1998 and has since grown the company’s local customer base to more than 120 leading organisations including ANZ Bank, Western Mining, Rio Tinto and Unisys.

Having worked for NetIQ for the past five years, most recently in its offices in San Jose, California, Emma Duncan returns home to Australia to take up a role as dedicated NetIQ marketing manager for the Australia and New Zealand region. Combining her extensive skills in both sales and marketing, Emma will be responsible for developing, executing and tracking the effectiveness of marketing campaigns for NetIQ, promoting the company’s brand and products with a view to supporting the company’s direct sales operations and promoting growth in Australia and New Zealand.

As northern regional manager for NetIQ, Tim Mahony will drive sales in New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory for NetIQ’s systems and security management products. Tim previously worked as national enterprise sales director for Symantec, where he was responsible for expanding anti-virus software sales as well as driving sales of new technology for the company. Prior to Symantec, Tim worked as executive general manager at PowerLAN.

“The Australia/New Zealand market has always been of key importance to NetIQ and these new appointments are evidence of this,” said Hans Brouwer, vice president of intercontinental sales for NetIQ. “We are thrilled to be in a position to add so many talented and experienced individuals to our Australian team and feel confident that we can use their expertise to grow the local business and strengthen our market position in Australia and New Zealand.”
