Dutch student turns right mouse clicks into revenue
Rightmouse uses javascript to turn right clicks into advertising dollars

A Dutch IT student has launched what he claims is a "whole new way of advertising" by using the right mouse button.

Johan Struijk of Amsterdam has created a system that allows Web sites to earn money every time a visitor clicks on the right mouse button and is redirected to an advertiser. Advertisers and webmasters can sign up for the service on the Rightmouse site.

The log in will be functional on Wednesday, after which surfers who visit sites that have the rightmouse.net code integrated into them will be redirected to an advertiser when they click the right mouse button. This method prevents source code from being stolen and allows sites to earn money, according to Struijk's Web site. Advertisers will be able to manage their campaigns and webmasters can monitor progress and get the necessary code to implement in their site.

"The idea is simple," Struijk said.

Many webmasters disable use of the right mouse at their sites to protect their source code, he said. "Now they can do the same but even gain money from it."

RightMouse uses Javascript to disable the right mouse and redirect visitors to the site of an advertiser. Web site owners get Euro .03 (AUD$.05) per click, advertisers pay Euro .05. The remaining Euro .02 are for Struijk.
