Tech consultancy Accenture has appointed Jack Percy to the role of managing director for Australia.

Percy replaces Doug Snedden, who is retiring in June after almost 30 years with the company.

Snedden will continue to serve as a director of the Accenture Australia Foundation. Prior to this appointment, Percy held the position of managing director for Accenture's government operating group across South East Asia.

He joined Accenture's London office in 1983. Announcing the appointment, the managing director for Accenture in South East Asia, Shane Ryan, said Percy is an influential leader for Accenture within the region.

"He has provided distinguished service to Accenture and we look forward to his contribution in the years to come. He will undoubtedly build on the platform created by Doug Snedden while implementing his own vision for the organisation," Ryan said. "I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Doug Snedden for his huge contribution to Accenture over the years.

"As country managing director, Doug led the company through a period of sustained growth and helped to define a diverse and well balanced company culture." Commenting on his appointment, Percy said the business is in good shape in Australia with clients continuing to rely on the company to help them deliver high performance.

"My focus will be to maintain the growth that we have delivered in recent years while continuing to enhance the position of Accenture in the industry and in the wider community," he said. While Snedden felt it was the right time to step aside, he said it is still a difficult decision to leave Accenture. "I've enjoyed a variety of roles in Australia and overseas, during my long Accenture career," Snedden said.

"I've particularly enjoyed working with the leadership team in recent few years to improve the fundamentals of our business position in Australia.

"I'm very confident that the organisation is in good hands moving forward." Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company operating in 49 countries.

The company generated net revenues of US$19.7 billion for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2007.
