Also wins Victorian Parliament deal

Acer Computer Australia is on a roll in Victoria securing two major government contracts worth more than $10 million.

Victorian Police announced this week it will continue its relationship with Acer and Fujitsu.

The department recently conducted a market test and confirmed a major refresh of the contract for Acer to supply 10,000 PCs over a six month period, from July to December 2007.

Acer will supply the 'Veriton 5900' and 'Travelmate 6592G' products as part of the $10 million dollar deal. Acer has also been selected exclusive supplier to the Victorian Parliament.

As part of this contract, Acer will deploy approximately 400 'Veriton 1000' ultra small form factor computers over the next month in partnership with Commander.

The vendor's general manager of government, education and corporate sales, Mike Cefai, said these deals make Acer the number one PC supplier to the Victorian government.

In addition to the Victorian Police department, Cefai said Acer is also a supplier to NSW, Queensland and Western Australian Police. Established in 1976, Acer employs 5600 people supporting dealers and distributors in more than 100 countries. Revenues in 2005 reached US$9.7 billion.
