The entire island nation of the Marshall Islands has been left without email access to the outside world following a severe DDoS attack.

The Micronesian nation's sole ISP, the Marshall Islands National Telecommunications Authority (NTA), was hit with a zombie attack which has crippled the servers.

NTA's email gateways were being flooded by over 500 STMP connections per second.

According to NTA it could take days to restore full service. The motive for the attack is as yet unclear.
