Sydney, Australia – Dec 9th 2005 – OZtion, Australia’s second largest online auction site (www.oztion.com.au), and the Chaianne Ramage Foundation have today announced a partnership to raise money for the Hope Cottage project (www.hopecottage.org.au).

The goal of the Hope Cottage project, is to establish a series of specifically designed Australian holiday retreats that cater to the special needs of seriously ill children. The Hope Cottage project is the brainchild of the Chaianne Ramage Foundation, an Australian charity.

Donations of items are being sought from the general public and businesses, so that the items can be auctioned online to help raise money for the Hope Cottage project. The Hope Cottage fund raising auctions can be found at www.oztion.com.au, within the Charity Auctions category.

Thera Ramage, founder of the Hope Cottage project explained, “The experience of having a child with a life-threatening illness such as leukemia, cancer, cystic fibrosis, to name a few, is a nightmare you could never be prepared for. There seems to be no escape from the exhaustion, heartbreak and the never ending cycle of hospital visits.”

Thera Ramage continued, “The idea for Hope Cottage was inspired by my ten year old daughter, Chaianne, who was diagnosed in March 2004 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia M5 and also suffered countless strokes. After undergoing exhausting and grueling chemotherapy for four months and then a bone marrow transplant on the 9th July 2004, we felt there was a very real need for somewhere that we could escape to and recover from some of the ravages that we, as a family, had suffered. This is when the Hope Cottage project was born.”

When donated items are received, OZtion staff members prepare the items for auction, as well as run the auctions. Proceeds from the auctions are collected by OZtion and donated to the Hope Cottage project.
