Former EMC executive Steve Redman has joined McAfee as president for the Asia Pacific region.
Redman has been charged with taking McAfee's APAC business to the "next level" according to a media statement released last week.
He will report to Michael DeCesare, executive vice president of sales operations at McAfee.
Redman begins in his new role immediately and will be responsible for sales in North Asia, South East Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Announcing the appointment, DeCesare said Redman "is a proven leader, having tremendous previous success in driving results in all three key core business components-employee, customer/partner and shareholder success."
"He is one of the strongest sales executives I have ever worked with and possesses a rare combination of operational excellence and strong people skills," he added.
Redman certainly has a high profile in the local market and established himself as a storage veteran while working at EMC where he held the position of vice president of the Asia Pacific.
Prior to his promotion to a regional role, Redman was EMC's A/NZ managing director until 2005 when he was replaced by David Webster.
While at EMC he successfully merged companies such as Documentum and Legato into the EMC Software group.
Prior to EMC, Redman was general manager of Rockwell Electronic Commerce and held positions at Lucent Technologies and Fuji Xerox, with roles in marketing and general management.
"I am pleased to join McAfee and to be a part of its world-class executive management team," Redman said.
"The company has proven its ability to innovate and lead the market as the largest dedicated security company. We are in an excellent position to take advantage of the opportunities we see in the marketplace and I look forward to contributing to our growth in the Asia Pacific region."
Redman holds a diploma in A/S engineering and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Macquarie University.
He is also a member of the Nobel Laureates Advisory Board, and is an associate lecturer in the MBA program at the University of Technology, Sydney.
