Former Commonwealth Bank of Australia CIO, Howard Morris, has joined consulting firm The Nous Group to lead its Information Management and Technology Practice (IM&T) in Sydney.

Morris will drive the management firm's IM&T consulting capability in the private sector working closely with C-level executives on business-driven IT projects.

With more than 35 years experience in Australia and overseas, Morris joins Nous after 18 months as director of information management and technology at Uniting Care Ageing New South Wales, the state's largest provider of aged and community care services.

In 2000, he was awarded CIO of the Year in the financial services industry.

In addition to working at the Australian Stock Exchange, Morris spent six years in Singapore in senior roles spanning strategy, consulting, project management and change management for major banks including OCBC and DBS.

Prior to this he spent 23 years at IBM where he commenced his career as a systems engineer and progressed through various technical support, product management and senior management positions.

The Nous Group managing director, Tim Orton, said the company is looking to aggressively expand its IM&T capability in NSW, particularly within financial services.

Morris has a Bachelor of Science (Hons First Class) from the Australian National University.
