ICT debate by major parties exposes political division
Democrats call for the structural separation of Telstra, claiming it is a monolithic monster

"The separation should have happened earlier, now we are dealing with an antagonistic Telstra," Allison said.
"We have created a monolithic monster that is hard to wrestle to the ground; we need new rules to reduce monopolistic behavour."
Allison wants to see more ICT training for teachers, not just students, and described the Democrats as an IT savvy political party.
While political parties in Australia are using YouTube for the first time and ICT has become an election issue, Allison said the Democrats have been using the Web as a communication tool for a long time.
"Our Web site gets half a million hits a month," she added.
