IT&T suffered the second highest drop in advertised job positions over August compared to all industry sectors, according to the latest Olivier Job Index.
14 out of 16 industry sectors fell over the past month, in line with a global economic downturn, with the Index’s 12 month growth of 6.3 percent its lowest rate in eight years.
Advertised jobs in the IT&T sector fell by 8.3 percent over August, narrowly beaten by the Human Resources sector which was down by 8.4 percent.
NSW continues to be the worst performing state in terms of job vacancies for all sectors, dropping 6.4 percent over August. WA and QLD, traditionally strong states for job vacancy growth, also declined in August by over three percent each.
By Olivier’s count the number of IT&T positions has declined 14.81 percent over the past 12 months, making it the second worst performing industry, beaten only by the Financial Services and Banking sector which has declined by over 23 percent.
