Australia's first Internet law practice specialising in law relating to the Internet and e-commerce has been launched by the Federal Attorney-General Daryl Williams.
Williams said the Oz NetLaw service (www.oznetlaw.net) will enable people to get legal information and advice over the Internet.
"The service is the first of its kind in Australia and it will specialise in law relating to the Internet and e-commerce. This is a new field of legal practice, but in essence it embraces many existing areas of law such as defamation, copyright and consumer protection."
Individuals will be able to access legal information from the Web site or submit more detailed queries to a lawyer, with a guarantee of an answer within 10 days.
The site was developed with assistance from the Communications Law Centre, Gilbert and Tobin and Clayton Utz.
