Queensland Health has won an award for the best ITIL implementation of the year at the 2006 IT Service Management Awards held last night.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) nominated the Queensland Health project (dubbed the transformation program) because of scale and significance to health delivery in Queensland.

Sabrina Walsh, Queensland Health CIO, said the organization is utilizing standardized IT processes.

"Having completed the organizational restructure, rolled out the initial processes, installed HP OpenView and completed much of our training, Queensland health is now well on its way to achieving it's IT service management goals," Walsh said.

The information division of Queensland Health currently has more than 800 staff and 285 WAN sites, providing ICT services to more than 50,000 staff.

The Queensland Police Service won the highly commended award for best ITIL implementation while SP Ausnet won an award for innovation.

The award for student of the year went to Mark Millen, an HP employee, for scoring the highest mark throughout 2006 in the ISEB/EXIN Service Management Certificate examination.
