Boasting a client list of more than 200 councils across Australia and New Zealand, TechnologyOne Ltd today announced it has signed deals with two municipalities in Western Australia.

Technology One will provide financials and works & assets to the City of Joondalup along with its fully integrated Local Government suite which covers property and rating, financials, HR/Payroll, works & assets).

The Shire of Busselton has purchased TechnologyOne's newest product, Enterprise Content Management, Dataworks.

The local government market has become increasingly competitive in recent years with the Australian enterprise software provider going head to head with big guns such as Microsoft, Oracle and SAP.

Councils have been forced to increase their IT spend in recent years without the ability to increase rates.This means delivering more services more efficiently while also complying with government regulations and standards.

The Australian Local Government Association estimate councils collect up to $7 billion per year in rates and employ around 145,000 staff.

The new contracts will enable both the City of Joondalup and the Shire of Busselton to provide enhanced reporting, instant information transfer and retrieval, and improved operational efficiency. TechnologyOne chairman, Adrian Di Marco, said the company's objective in the local government sector has been to help municipalities overcome the limitations that result from the varying quality of products and systems available.

"We provide a deeply integrated suite of highly functional products, where each product is at the top of its game," he said. "In the past customers have had to compromise, going to four, five or even six different vendors to try and bring together all the suitable pieces of technology.

"We have invested significant research and development into our Connected Intelligence (Ci) framework that forms the core of all our solutions.

"This framework gives us the ability to deliver fully integrated solutions with the same user interface and look and feel across the full product suite." DiMarco said the company has been partnering with local government organizations for nearly 10 years.
