Sydney, 15th March 2006 AWA Limited today announced that they have acquired Telefix Sales Pty Ltd from CVC Private Equity, effective from 1st March 2006.
Telefix is one of the largest providers of warranty management services to the home entertainment market and they have repair operations in Sydney and Melbourne.
“This is an important step for AWA as we continue to develop a complete range of technical services for our customers,” said Mark Rainbird the Managing Director of AWA.
To date AWA’s strengths have been in the information and communications technology [ICT] market and have been largely focused on a corporate customer base. However many customers have been asking AWA to provide support for the end users of technology at home.
“Since we acquired the AWA business in late 2004, we have noticed the lack of credible national technical service operators addressing the in-home consumer electronics market and Telefix brings us this capability,” added Rainbird.
Industry commentators have long been talking about the convergence of ICT and home entertainment and now it really is starting to happen and this creates new service business opportunities. Telefix gives AWA the additional technical skills and national network needed to be able to address the home market for both traditional, and more importantly, the new networked home entertainment products.
This acquisition brings together two well known and trusted Australian brand names. Telefix in various forms has been around since the 1960’s and AWA can trace it’s origins to 1909.
