Sabre Travel Network yesterday unveiled an 'Enterprise 2.0' social networking product designed to let users share travel advice and recommendations with colleagues.

The new Cubeless social network will be a module in Sabre's GetThere corporate travel booking tool. American Express Business Travel, which uses the GetThere tool, will also use the Cubeless network, Sabre said.

The social network, the first in a series of Sabre community products, will be available in mid-2008. Sabre developed Cubeless in its in-house incubator, called Sabre Travel Studios.

Cubeless will allow users to connect and benefit from the collective experience and expertise of their traveling colleagues who work under the same travel policies, said Tom Klein, executive vice president for Sabre Holdings and group vice president of the Sabre Travel Network and Sabre Airline Solutions.

"For those folks that the road is as much their office as where their desk is, getting information they know they can trust is just invaluable," Klein said. "It can be anything from finding out about services to help support their business trip in a location others have been to, to what nearby restaurants are open all night for a quick bite, to verifying that a hotel they want to stay in has dependable, fast wireless internet access and a gym that is open early in the morning."

In 2007, Sabre launched an internal version of Cubeless, which now includes 10,000 profiles. In a one-month period, Sabre employees generated 900 referrals -- information sent from one user to another about an area of expertise -- on Cubeless, Sabre said. Sabre employees have used the social network to find specific skills for their work teams and to obtain travel information like the best mode of transportation to local offices, the company said.

John Samuel, who heads up Sabre Travel Studios, noted that the company is working to develop additional features for Cubeless such as allowing GetThere travelers to automatically populate and share trip information from their Cubeless profiles.
