Sydney, 19 January 2006 – Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, today announced Martin Zierer has joined its Australian and New Zealand team as a Solution Architect.

In his new role, Zierer will work closely with the Red Hat sales team to provide pre-sales technical support. He will focus on helping existing and potential clients to identify the best technical solution for their business needs. As part of his role, Zierer will also be working closely with Red Hat partners including Intel, Oracle, HP, Dell and IBM.

“I’m looking forward to working with clients and providing them with the additional technical expertise to successfully use open source technologies in mission critical enterprise environments,” said Zierer.

Red Hat’s General Manager for A/NZ, Max McLaren, said, “Martin is already proving to be a great addition to our team. His expertise in delivering solutions to reduce costs and increase performance meets a need many of our clients are calling out for.”

Prior to Red Hat, Zierer was a Solution Specialist and Strategic Relationship Manager at Intel Australia. At Intel, Zierer was a key contributor to the first production deployments of Oracle 9i RAC on Linux in Australia, the teraflop cluster installation on Dell/Linux at AC3 in Sydney and the first 64-bit Itanium data warehousing solution for a financial institution in Melbourne. Before that, he was a Senior Technical Consultant at Intel Solution Services and the Team Leader Databases for Cable and Wireless Deutschland, both in Munich, Germany.

Zierer has eleven years industry experience and is both a Red Hat Certified Engineer and an Oracle Certified Associate.
