Optus appoints new CIO
Former Coles exec fills role

Optus has appointed a new Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The role will be filled by Coles executive Lawrie Turner who will commence work in August, 2007, according to an internal e-mail sent to staff.

Turner has nearly two decades of experience in the IT industry including a stint at Qantas.

While Optus has not made a public statement the telco has confirmed its former CIO is leaving Australia.

Soo Kee Ng will return to Singapore.

He will take on the role of CIO at Optus' parent company SingTel.
