SNIA announces three year strategic plan
Education is the key

The A/NZ Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) today announced the details of its three year strategic plan aimed at the promotion of storage networking and data management technologies across the region.

SNIA will focus its efforts on training and certification, events, delivering expertise to members and growing the local storage community.

At the heart of the strategy lies education, according to Jacob Van der Eyk, SNIA chairman.

He said the association aims to not only establish greater training opportunities, but to use its educational courses as a means of accelerating the SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP) to boost the overall knowledge of storage and data management in the end user community.

SNIA will use its extensive marketing program through events and regional conferences to deliver a diverse mix of educational content to a wider audience.

"We have a unique opportunity to influence the growth and adoption of technology because of our vendor neutrality and the depth of our content based on standards and best practice," Van der Eyk said.

"We will harness the combined talents of our membership to assist in bringing a rich variety of educational and practical content to the widest possible audience.

"My colleagues on the Board of Directors are excited about the prospect of delivering the first real set of long term strategic objectives for this organisation since its formation."

SNIA expects that by launching a series of key initiatives it will see a dramatic increase in its membership numbers and will be announcing new campaigns to recruit not only corporate vendors but channel companies and individuals as well.

SNIA is a not-for-profit organization taking a lead role in the development of standards and best practices in the storage networking community.

It is made up of more than 420 active member companies plus their worldwide affiliates and close to 7,100 active individuals spanning virtually the entire storage industry.
