Cognito Software Ltd today announced the latest release of MoneyWorks Datacentre, the enterprise version of the MoneyWorks family of accounting products, which includes a plug-in for Mac OS X Leopard’s Quick Look feature and allows Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch to communicate directly with MoneyWorks files.
MoneyWorks software now takes advantage of Quick Look, a new Leopard feature to enhance user productivity. A Quick Look preview can be generated automatically whenever a MoneyWorks accounting file is saved, allowing the user to subsequently see a snapshot of the financials directly in the Finder in Mac OS X. As the preview is generated by a MoneyWorks report, the user can customize the information that is shown.
“Adding Mac OS X Leopard’s Quick Look to MoneyWorks has opened up some interesting possibilities,” said Dr Grant Cowie, CEO of Cognito Software Ltd. “Consider a chartered accountant who has hundreds of client files to review—simply using Quick Look, he can scroll through several MoneyWorks files effectively instantly, looking for key accounting measures or anomalous results.”
"Leopard offers over 300 new features including Quick Look, a new way to instantly see files without opening an application," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “Cognito’s use of Quick Look allows users instant access to vital business information, saving valuable time and system resources.”
With MoneyWorks, mobile users can have a real time exchange of information between the organisation’s accounts and remote iPhone and iPod touch users. Now business owners can keep track of their business from anywhere. Salespeople can do a live account check on the clients they are about to visit and then place their orders in real time. Since reports can be tailored to the individual, users can extract just the information they need, in the format that they need it, no matter where they are!
For example, Vancouver-based Neo Code Software has integrated MoneyWorks with an ordering system used by Fortune 500 companies. “Using our ordering system, a salesperson can enter an order into an iPhone and this is instantly transmitted to MoneyWorks for processing. There is no need to lug around a laptop, and notification of order acceptance can be provided by return email,” said Joshua Paul, CEO of Neo Code.
The new MoneyWorks release will be shown at the MoneyWorks booth at MacWorld Expo (booth W-4629, Moscone Centre, San Francisco, Jan 15-18), and is available as a free automatic update for registered MoneyWorks 5 users.
