Over 20% of all bids for Rock n’ Roll memorabilia auction come via the Internet

(Sydney, Australia – September 2, 2004) – Live Global Bid Australia Pty Ltd today announced that its LiveGlobalBid® online bidding software was responsible for delivering over 20 per cent of all bids via the Internet for leading Sydney auctioneer Bonhams & Goodman’s Rock n’ Roll memorabilia auction held on Sunday 29 August at their Double Bay show rooms.

The Rock n’ Roll memorabilia auction was of items collected by the late Wane “Swampy” Jarvis who was a much loved and respected member of the global entertainment industry. An audience of over 150 people clapped and cheered when Angus Young’s (AC/DC) famous schoolboy blazer, was knocked down for $8,586 to a private collector. Glenn Frey's Takamine guitar signed by all of the Eagles fetched $9,420 and a set list for the Rolling Stones Licks World Tour signed by the Rolling Stones and AC/DC went to an avid rock memorabilia collector. The LiveGlobalBid® online bidding software allowed buyers to sit in front of their home or office computers, making bids with the click of a mouse, while watching and listening to the auction live online.

“This is the first time we have used live bidding over the Internet. Over 20 per cent of all lots sold were via the Internet and in a lot of cases; the second last bid came from an Internet bidder. The auction technology is great as it enables us to reach far more people,” said Marina Jacobson, Senior Auctioneer at Bonhams & Goodman.

Other highlights from the Wane Swampy Jarvis auction include the microphones that were used by the Beatles at the Melbourne Festival Hall in 1964 and posters signed by Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli and Sammy Davis Junior.

“By using the power of the Internet, the LiveGlobalBid® software increases a client’s audience and creates a new distribution channel that has assisted the sale of this rock n’ roll memorabilia by attracting more bids, increasing competition and value and significantly improving inventory catalogue turnover, “ said Niall Power, Managing Director at Live Global Bid Australia Pty Ltd.

Bonhams & Goodman’s Wane “Swampy” Jarvis rock and pop auction was 96 per cent sold by volume and grossed over $116,209. About Live Global Bid Australia Pty Ltd
