The NSW Police Force and the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT) dealt a significant blow to the pirate film industry with the seizure of thousands of allegedly illegal movies during police raids in Sydney today.

According to a statement from the NSW Police Force, officers from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command executed search warrants on two properties in the west and south-western suburbs of Guildford and Ingleburn this morning.

8000 allegedly pirated copies of DVDs were seized, including many recent Australian cinema releases such as the Bourne Ultimatum, There Will Be Blood, Disney's Enchanted, and the popular TV series Prison Break and Underbelly.

Hollywood blockbusters like Spiderman, classic films such as the Wizard of Oz, and children's Disney cartoon movies were also seized.

Burning equipment and numerous computers were also confiscated in the raids.

A 33 year-old Guildford man and a 52 year-old Ingleburn man were questioned by investigating officers, with a decision on whether to lay charges expected to follow AFACT's analysis of the seized DVDs.

The NSW Police Force said this morning's operation follows extensive inquiries by detectives at Macquarie Field's Local Area Command and AFACT.
