Known as the father of the Internet, Google vice president Dr Vinton Cerf, is heading to Queensland.

In a move described by the "smart state" as a coup, evangelist Vinton Cerf will share his insights at a luncheon being held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 8, 2007.

Cerf will be discussing "The Internet, infinity and beyond' and will look at how the Internet relates to business around the world today, where it is headed and opportunities this will createt.

"The Internet is becoming a global infrastructure for 21st Century communication. All of the media come together in the Internet (radio, television, print publications, e-mail, WWW, Instant Messaging and short messaging systems). It is the first many-to-many medium and it has promoted democratic expression in a way that has never before been possible." Dr. Cerf said commenting on the expansion of the Internet.

"Internet is the next generation's way of communicating. One has only to look at the many social network applications that have evolved in the last five years to understand that."
