Sybase has announced a partnership with supply chain technology company Intermec to provide Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) infrastructure products.

The company said its 'RFID Anywhere' middleware will be used in Intermec's supply chain tracking hardware including mobile computing, barcode printers and label media. Sybase software lies between the RFID network of devices and back-end enterprise systems.

Intermec A/NZ general manager, Curtis York said the companies will coordinate sales strategies, partner support and participate in a skills transfer process in marketing the technology to systems integrators and application developers.

York said the companies have integrated products because "just gathering raw data isn't enough anymore".

The alliance between Sybase and Intermec was announced last month at the Impetus conference 2006.
