A final-year animation and interactive media student at RMIT has won a distribution deal with a mobile content company after winning a design contest.

The entry was student Sam Yang's first attempt at designing animations for mobile phones.

Web-content providers Monikker - the contest's organisers - were so impressed with Yang's entry they immediately entered into negotiations to buy the distribution rights for Yang's manga-inspired design.

Monikker has also commissioned Yang to design more animations, and is approaching other students to commission their entries to the contest.

The contest's original goal was merely to provide Monikker with market research.

The animations can be seen at http://infotyte.adc.rmit.edu.au/designlab/08/monikker.htm
