Network cabling may not be the most glamorous piece of IT infrastructure, but that hasn't stopped Challenger Financial Services from dropping $200,000 on a cabling solution for its new Sydney headquarters.
Following a competitive tender, Challenger chose ADC KRONE's TrueNet "structured cabling solution" with the anticipation the new infrastructure will yield significant cost savings.
With Challenger's new headquarters bringing all staff under one roof, the new cabling will provide optimum network performance and reliability, according to the company.
The TrueNet solution purports to simplify network management, reducing the load on staff and wear on equipment.
The installation will include ADC KRONE's HighBand 25 cross connect solution, which supports maximum throughput above one gigabit.
ADC KRONE, whose Asia Pacific headquarters is on the NSW Central Coast, is working with engineering consultants Bassett Consulting Engineers to deliver the solutions.
Challenger chose the solution after a seeing it in action at FOXTEL's new Sydney offices, according to ADC KRONE.
ADC KRONE's national sales manager for corporate accounts, Jon Vause, said while moving to a new building is a huge undertaking, it also provides companies with an opportunity to create their network infrastructure from scratch.
"Challenger Financial Services has ensured its network will perform to the highest standards in the short- and long term [and] the TrueNet solution will not just ensure network performance, but will also provide genuine cost savings due to its ease of management and patch-by-exception functionality," Vause said.
Integrator Rencom Communications will install the solution, which is expected to be complete by February 2007.
