The Cairns-based Skyrail rainforest cableway in North Queensland is undergoing a multi million upgrade that includes new cabling and communications infrastructure.
Network infrastructure provider, ADC Krone has been selected to roll out the structured cabling solution upgrading the existing network to high-bandwidth Category 6 cabling.
It will provide the tourist attraction with a faster and more reliable network, allowing it to offer new services to customers.
The project is part of Skyrail's $2.5 million expansion of its Caravonica Terminal building and infrastructure, including expanding reservations and ticketing facilities.
The expansion is designed to provide customers with faster processing times for ticket requests and boarding passes.
As well as the cabling and patch panels, ADC Krone will provide Skyrail with an easy-to-manage, reliable network utilising 25 consolidation points.
The HighBand 25 consolidation points provide greater flexibility, superior performance and greater headroom characteristics than other consolidation points, according to Jon Vause, ADC's corporate accounts manager.
"Skyrail is committed to offering its customers a consistently high-quality, multi-faceted eco-tourism experience," he said.
The project will be installed by Industrial and Marine Electrics (IME) and is due for completion later this month.
