Sydney - August 7 2008 – Advanta Software, specialist software solutions provider to the 3PL, logistics and fuel distribution markets announced that Lowes Petroleum Service and Lubes Direct have selected ATLAS Fuel™, Advanta’s fuel distributors’ software suite, to be the new software platform supporting the future growth of the company.
Lowes Petroleum Service is a major petroleum wholesaler and retailer servicing over 9000 private and commercial clients. With an annual volume of 200 million litres and a distribution area stretching from far north Queensland down to Newcastle, Lowes Petroleum is one of Australia’s largest distributors. The lubrication business unit, Lubes Direct, is the central Mobil Lubricant Distribution warehouse for NSW. Lubes Direct also have a number of specialised Lubricant Sales Representatives, operating in the Sydney Metro, mid Coast and Central Coast areas.
The existing distribution system at Lowes was supplied by Advanta Software in 1998 and was in fact the precursor to Advanta’s Atlas Fuel™. According to Geoff Dimond, IT Manager for Lowes Petroleum and Lubes Direct, “after many years of reliable service, the move to Atlas has not been a monumental change but it will yield many benefits”.
The original system ran on a UNIX platform and the migration to Atlas Fuel™ provides the opportunity to standardise on the Windows platform. As Mr Dimond said, “The Windows GUI brings all the benefits of point & click as well as makes training new staff much easier & quicker. Atlas Fuel™ will also open up our access to programs like Truck Computers so more timely data can assist the business processes”.
Commencing in March 2008 with a projected completion date of July 1, the project has progressed smoothly with the first business unit, Lubes Direct involving 10 users, going live on the target date. “The Advanta team”, said Mr Dimond, “has handled all issues in their usual timely fashion.”
The Petroleum distribution business users were held back a month to ensure they were adapting well to the new non-text based system. Geoff Dimond took the time to visit each of the widely dispersed locations himself to check how well the more than 35 users were adapting. His findings: “to date all users have accepted Atlas Fuel™” with minimal retraining.”
