    Bell Atlantic Acquires Frontier Cellular 21/07/1999 13:01:01

    Bell Atlantic Mobile and Vodafone AirTouch are extending their wireless reach with new acquisitions announced this week. Bell Atlantic Mobile is buying up the half of Frontier Cellular that is didn't already own. Meanwhile Vodafone AirTouch announced its plans to acquire CommNet Cellular for $764 million. Frontier Cellular offers wireless services in New York's Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Rome and Binghamton metropolitan areas in addition to six other smaller markets in New York and in Pennsylvania.

    Vodafone to Buy CommNet Cellular for US$764M 21/07/1999 13:01:01

    Wireless giant Vodafone AirTouch PLC has agreed to acquire CommNet Cellular Inc. of the U.S. for US$764 million in cash, extending its cellular coverage to new areas of the Western United States, the companies said this week. Terms of the acquisition, to be made through Vodafone's AirTouch Cellular subsidiary, also require it to assume about $600 million of CommNet debts. CommNet shareholders will receive $31 per share in cash. The transaction is expected to close in four to five months, the firms said.
