Entuity Ltd. this week announced the latest release of its network management software that the company claims can now manage fault, performance and inventory across networks. The product also includes support for frame relay management.

The network is becoming a more crucial element to corporations and service providers, and ways to protect, manage, store data on, and overall improve a network will be on display May 6-11 at the 15th annual Networld+Interop conference and expo in Las Vegas.

A host of management tools for helping customers control, track and troubleshoot problems across enterprise networks took the spotlight at the NetWorld+Interop 2000 show last week. As companies rapidly increase network infrastructure, more network professionals are looking for products that give a big picture of the enterprise environment, and let them anticipate and fix problems before they become serious, analysts say.

John Shelest was disappointed with the absence of a "technical presence" when he attended the spring Networld/Interop exposition and conference in Las Vegas in May. "There were mostly sales and marketing people giving out a lot of business cards, and many of my technical questions were not being addressed," Shelest said.

Looking to articulate best practices and agree upon standards, 19 vendors have formed a management service provider consortium.

Network managers next week will get some help ensuring their networks run smoothly, as several vendors tweak their management software to monitor performance and diagnose problems.

Network Management administrators seeking that elusive ingredient to tie their enterprise directly into the company's online business process should find plenty of e-commerce network performance and analysis options to choose from at the NetWorld+Interop trade show in Las Vegas next week.
