    US Customs blocks some Sanyo, Winbond chip imports 30/04/2001 08:00:00

    In the latest twist in the semiconductor memory patent infringement battle, U.S. semiconductor company Atmel Corp. said Thursday that customs authorities in the U.S. had blocked imports of chips said to be infringing on one of its patents, while Japan's Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., which has seen shipments of its chips halted, maintained they do not infringe the patents under question.

    SAN FRANCISCO (09/18/2000) - Queen Elizabeth II presided over Siemens AG's opening of a northeast England semiconductor plant in 1997, but even the presence of royalty couldn't guarantee future success for the operation. Just two years after its official unveiling, Siemens said Monday it would sell the North Tyneside plant to Atmel Corp. as part of an extended partnership between the two companies.

    Mitsubishi to Take RISC to Home Appliances 26/01/2000 12:01:01

    Japan's Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has licensed from ARM Ltd. the company's ARM7TDMI-S RISC (reduced instruction set computer) microprocessor core for use in future digital consumer electronics chips, U.K.-based ARM said yesterday.
