SafeNet
www.safenet-inc.comSafeNet (Nasdaq: SFNT), headquarters in Belcamp, Maryland, is a global leader in information security.
It provides complete security utilizing its encryption technologies to protect communications, intellectual property and digital identities, and offers a full spectrum of products including hardware, software, and chips.
SafeNet technology is the de facto standard in:
1) Data-at-rest Protection
Protecting data at the asset level via data encryption is the ultimate line of defense against unauthorized disclosure of confidential electronic information. Mobile devices containing confidential data can easily be lost or stolen, and data transmitted through a corporate network, or via the internet, can be intercepted. This imposes considerable risk to sensitive data. A data thief hacker, or malicious employee/ex-employee, who is savvy enough to penetrate through all the perimeter security measures employed in a competent network, must still break through the most difficult and final frontier of fortification; data encryption.
SafeNet ProtectDrive, ProtectFile and ProtectPack software solutions deliver the ultimate line of defense protecting the storage and transmission of sensitive data on laptops, desktops, servers and mobile devices.
2) USB authentication tokens (iKey™) and Smart Card
SafeNet iKey USB tokens and SafeNet smart card are secure devices that can hold users credentials, such as passwords, keys, certificates, or biometrics. The devices have an open, flexible operating system that can enable other capabilities such as storing personal information or physical access credentials securely to the device. The cards/tokens can be used in both PKI and non-PKI environments. Whether smart card or USB token, both form factors have identical capabilities and organizations can mix and match card/token types as requirements dictate.
3) SSL acceleration devices (Luna and ProtectServer/Host series)
SafeNet Luna family of products comprises range of hardware security solutions for digital identity applications. Luna products feature true hardware key management to maintain the integrity of encryption keys. Sensitive keys are created, stored, and used exclusively within the secure confines of the Luna hardware security module (HSM) to prevent compromise.
SafeNet continues to develop innovative and future-proof HSMs to meet major international standards such as FIPS 140-2 and Common Criteria EAL4+. SafeNet Hardware Security Modules support major cryptographic API standards including PKCS#11, Microsoft CryptoAPI, and Java JCA/JCE. Special EFT Command Sets provide comprehensive support for American Express, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa networks, plus other retail EFT applications. The EFT Command Sets comprise PIN management, message authentication and management of cryptographic keys, plus many other functions.
4) Software protection token (Sentinel Hardware Key)
Effective software protection solutions can not only protect software from piracy, but decrease operational costs and allow for an increase in revenue through flexible licensing models.
Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) no longer need to purchase software protection in individual components from different vendors. Only SafeNet offers an all-inclusive solution, providing complete protection that can be measured and managed as a part of your business operations.
Sentinel Hardware Keys are a software rights management solution that protects software vendors from unauthorized use or distribution of their products. Sentinel Keys are hardware tokens which, when attached to a computer or network, monitor and enforce the licensing of protected applications. Sentinel Keys help ISVs combat the continually evolving threat of software piracy, which is more widespread and more sophisticated than ever before.
5) Digital Rights Management
DRM Fusion is a 5th generation, interoperable Digital Rights Management (DRM) server-side solution. Fusion implements and extends multiple DRM technologies such as Windows Media DRM 9 and 10 and OMA DRM while providing common integration interfaces. Fusion is a DRM solution for wireless and wireline operators and service providers.
As an end-to-end DRM solution, Fusion can create live and on demand services for any platform, including TV, PC, and Mobile. With Fusion, the entire DRM process is enabled: from content protection, rights creation, rights and condition management to license generation and delivery. Licensed content can then be delivered over any IP network to fixed and mobile devices with client-side DRM capabilities.
SafeNet DRM Mobile is a J2EE carrier-grade, server-side solution for mobile Digital Rights Management (DRM) that allows mobile operators to use DRM when deploying new content services. SafeNet DRM Mobile implements the OMA DRM V1.0 standard, including all mandatory and optional features, as well as technology independent value-added DRM features.

The business justification for data security
In the information security world we face two major types of threats: "noisy" threats which directly interfere with our ability to do business and "quiet" threats which cause real damage, but don't necessarily prevent people from doing their jobs. Read on to discover how to combat both types of threats and to justify the use of data security within your business.
