Red Hat
http://www.redhat.com.auRed Hat is the world's leading open source and Linux provider with offices around the globe. We provide operating system software along with middleware, applications and management solutions. We also offer support, training and consulting services to its customers worldwide and through top-tier partnerships. Red Hat's Open Source strategy offers customers a long term plan for building infrastructures that are based on and leverage open source technologies with focus on security and ease of management. For two consecutive years, CIOs have rated Red Hat #1 for value in the CIO Insights Vendor Value Study.
Red Hat is committed to helping customers drive costs out of their IT infrastructure. Virtualisation technology can help customers lower costs by optimising and increasing utilisation of computing systems. Red Hat will be introducing virtualisation into its next major release at the end of 2006, and has also created the Virtualisation Resource Centre (www.redhat.com/virtualization/) to provide customers with tools and information to prepare for virtualisation.
In another move designed to drive down costs, Red Hat announced in April 2006 that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JBoss, the global leader in open source middleware. Red Hat and JBoss anticipate that this will accelerate the shift to service-oriented architectures (SOA), by enabling the next generation of web-enabled applications running on a low-cost, open source platform.
Australian customers include TransACT Communications, Corporate Express, Bartter Enterprises, Patrick Corp and Europcar.
Products (support inclusive)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Red Hat Enterprise Linux is the leading platform for open source computing. It is certified by more than 650 software vendors, across 2,200 plus applications and is certified and supported for more than 550 hardware platforms. From the desktop to the datacentre, Enterprise Linux combines the best of open source technology with a stable, enterprise-class platform. New versions are introduced on an 18-month schedule and each release is supported for seven years.
Red Hat Network: Red Hat Network is a systems management tool designed to manage updates, management, provisioning and monitoring. With Red Hat Network, thousands of systems can be managed as easily as managing a single system. Red Hat Network can also manage heterogeneous environments with support for other platforms, including Solaris.
Red Hat Global File System: Red Hat Global File System (GFS) lets you manage a cluster of servers as if it were one. It allows a cluster of Linux servers to share data in a common pool of storage, with the benefits including simplified data infrastructure, maximised use of storage resources, the ability to add storage or servers on the fly, and maximum application uptime.
Red Hat Cluster Suite: Included with GFS, but also available separately, Red Hat Cluster Suite is designed for applications that require maximum uptime. It provides two distinct types of clustering:
• Application/service failover – create n-node server clusters for failover of key applications and services
• IP load balancing – Load balance incoming IP network requests across a farm of servers
Red Hat Directory Server: Red Hat Directory Server forms a central repository for an Identify Management infrastructure, simplifying user management, eliminating data redundancy and automating data maintenance. It also improves security, as by storing policies and access control information, Red Hat Directory Server creates a single authentication source across the entire enterprise for both intra- and extranet applications.
Red Hat Certificate Server: Red Hat Certificate Server provides a security framework to guarantee the identity of users and ensure privacy of communications. It creates a scalable and manageable authentication system to ensure only authorised users and applications have access to mission critical resources and data.
Services
