One easy method is to use Microsoft's Virtual Machine Manager. Using this you can either select the most suitable host, or have the software choose the most suitable host from a host group. To migrate to a specific host, drag and drop the virtual machine onto a host, or to have the software choose the best host, drag it on to a host group.

Using VMWare, if the virtual machine is powered off, you can run a migration wizard through the “Inventory” option on the navigation bar. Right click on the virtual machine to migrate, and from the “Summary” tab, click Migrate new host. Then follow the on-screen instructions.

For powered on virtual machines, you must first disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the virtual machine, then enable VMotion on both the source and target hosts. Click each host, and in the “summary tab” check “VMotion Enabled”. Next, ensure that both hosts are using the same SAN. Then follow the previous discussions to start the migration wizard.
