My favourite game series of all time would have to be the Final Fantasy saga hands down.
The thing I like about it is thats its like a good tuna sandwich. The bread and butter of the game is the story while the tuna is the action gameplay. Now, I could eat bread and butter and not complain that there's no filling and respectively I could eat tuna out of the can. But the beauty of these games is that it offers me a wholesome sandwich.
