"Unlimited broadband? And you're telling me it's not shaped?" BS. Telcos craft clever cost models to 'unlimited' plans. They base pricing and availability on models that say people will download a mean amount. And they can, and will, enforce that mean.

So I ask sales agent "how much can I download under your fair use?"

He simply reiterates that it is unshaped and unlimited, but these ISPs DO have fair use that I'll wager will stop you from running your downloads full speed 24/7.

But I never wanted to sign up anyway. What individual needs an infinite amount of bandwidth? I can drop $40 and get all the speed and capacity I need in a month (well actually I pay double because I live in the broadband desert but you city slickers can).

I don't have kids, and while I'm sure they eat as much bandwidth as food, I still don't think there is enough legal content on the Internet to necessitate that kind of ridiculous capacity.

Which leads to the other suggestion touched on by the media: is this simply putting wind in the sails of pirates?

You see the telecoms don't want you to use all the bandwidth quickly...lol
