Hema shows Thingstodo where to go

An alliance between AMI subsidiary, Thingstodo, and Hema Maps will see Hema's products available through an online store on the Thingstodo website.

Popular with backpackers, four-wheel drivers and outback sports enthusiasts, Hema maps cover both Australian metropolitan and outback areas.

"Thingstodo will have the most comprehensive coverage of Australian outback maps on the World Wide Web," according to David Adams, Thingstodo's managing director.

The Hema Maps range of products covers National Parks in each state, books on motorbike and four-wheel drive destinations, an Australian Atlas on CD-ROM, as well as a number of books on Australian roads.

There is also a series of map books on specialist topics such as "Discover Australia Fishing" and "Discover Australia by Road".

"The business arrangement that we have with Hema includes an option to sell maps of countries around the world. As Thingstodo establishes its businesses across European cities, these products will also be offered through the online store," according to Adams.

Hema currently supplies maps of Great Britain, France, Germany, Portugal, the Philippines, Singapore, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, amongst other Asian, Pacific and European nations.

Currently available from retail outlets such as service stations and bookstores in major Australian cities, Hema Maps' products are expected to be available on the Thingstodo site within the next three months, Adams said.

The arrangement will see Thingstodo receiving 40 per cent of the sale price of Hema Maps' products sold on its site.
