The Australian Broadcasting Authority has announced the allocation of 30 digital pay-TV licences to Access1 Pay Television (APT), and 22 licences to TPG TV (TPG).
The television services will be provided via satellite directly to homes using digital transmission technologies.
APT has indicated its licences will be used to provide a range of services including finance, commerce, shopping, sport, adult material, education and training, technology, lifestyle, nature documentaries, movies, children's cartoons and educational material aimed at pre-teenagers. The company also intends to provide its services over third-party networks, dependent upon regulatory and commercial developments.
TPG will provide news, business information, sport, cartoons, nature documentaries, Sky racing and movie services.
