Nortel recently added several IP telephony certifications to its lineup, including two expert-level certifications and two certifications aimed at those who design networks that use the vendor's products.
There are two main tracks: the Nortel Networks Certified Support Specialist (NNCSS) and Nortel Networks Certified Design Specialist (NNCDS).
Targeted at entry-level to mid-level IT pros who work in support roles, NNCS measures validates skills in installing, maintaining, and configuring Nortel products. The NNCDS, on the other hand, is targeted at those who design and plan networks that use Nortel products. Both tracks offer separate certifications for the CallPilot 2.0, VoIP Meridian 1 IP Enabled 25.40, VoIP Succession Business Communication Manager 3.0, and VoIP Succession CSE 1000.
Here's a quick glance at the newest offerings:
* Support Expert- IP Convergence CallPilot 2.0 Unified Messaging Solutions: This requires CallPilot 2.0 Unified Messaging Solutions exam 920-466, as well as IP Convergence exam 920-802. Candidates must first hold the NNCSS in CallPilot 2.0 prior to taking the latest exam.
* Support Expert- IP Convergence Meridian 1 IP Enabled 25.40: The required exam, 920-456, was scheduled to be released on June 3. Like the other expert-level certification, candidates must take the IP Convergence exam 920-802 and hold NNCSS certification for the Meridian platform.
* Design Specialist certification for VoIP Succession Business Communication Manager (BCM) 3.0: This certification requires the Succession BCM 3.0 exam, 920-125, along with the VoIP Technology exam, 920-801.
