SAP gets new chief

Geraldine McBride has been appointed as CEO and managing director for SAP Australia and New Zealand(ANZ) replacing Chris Bennett who has resigned, citing personal reasons.

McBride was the managing director of SAP New Zealand from 1996 to 2000, having joined SAP South Africa following two years at IBM. From there in 2000, she gained a position at SAP America as senior vice president of the consumer and manufacturing sector.

In a statement issued by the company, Peter Klaey, president of SAP Asia Pacific, noted McBride's "understanding of the local business environment, deep sector knowledge and customer focus" and expressed confidence that she would "continue driving SAP as the number one software provider in the ANZ market and the top sales region for SAP Asia."

Chris Bennett, a former PricewaterhouseCoopers' partner in charge of ERP practice, joined SAP as CEO SAP Asia-Pacific in June 2000.
