Telstra has launched a new offering designed to make it easier for its business customers to directly connect to cloud platforms using the telco’s network.
Telstra today also announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) had been added to the range of cloud services it offered customers.
Telstra’s Cloud Gateway offering will allow the telco’s Australian customers to directly connect to Microsoft’s Azure and Office 365 platforms, VMware’s vCloud Air, AWS, and IBM SoftLayer, the telco said today.
Internationally, customers will be able to connect to AWS and SoftLayer.
Telstra said more cloud services will be added to the lineup.
“Telstra is very well positioned to help customers with hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, as we bring the cloud and the network together,” Telstra’s executive director, global products and solutions, Philip Jones, said in a statement.
“The network is the fundamental piece of the puzzle that helps provide a secure and reliable application experience. Having a single touchpoint also helps reduce IT complexity, enabling our customers to maximise the benefits of investing in cloud.”
Telstra said Cloud Gateway will be available in June.
Earlier this year Telstra offered details of its collaboration with Cisco to offer its customers bandwidth on demand between data centres, their own premises and public cloud services, as well as provision virtual network appliances such as firewalls.
