NBN has issued its quarterly construction update, adding 200,000 more premises to the rollout.
"Today, around one in 10 homes and businesses can connect to the NBN network. Our recently renegotiated construction contracts give us the confidence to schedule more than double that amount to start construction over the next 18 months," said the company's chief operating officer, Greg Adcock.
A statement from NBN said that the update added premises in Margaret River and Kalgoorlie in Western Australia; Buderim and Springfield in Queensland; Port Macquarie, Ryde, North Sydney and North Manly in NSW; and Portsea and Beaconsfield in Victoria.
Last month NBN signed a new round of network rollout contracts covering some 4 million premises
The company revealed it had signed contracts with Downer, Transfield, Visionstream, Fulton Hogan and WBHO.
