Oracle has unveiled plans to hire 1000 new sales staff in Asia Pacific to sell its cloud offerings including software-as-a-service (SaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS).
The vendor will be hiring approximately 125 staff in Australia.
Oracle will also be recruiting in China, India, Korea, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Oracle Australia and New Zealand regional managing director Tim Ebbeck said it is focused on helping its customers’ transition to the cloud so that they can achieve their business goals.
According to the vendor, it invests $5 billion in product research and development every year.
One of Oracle’s biggest customers in Australia is National Australia Bank (NAB) who implemented Oracle Service Cloud in 2012.
The platform combines Web, social and call centre functions. Within six weeks of the rollout of the Service Cloud platform, NAB call centre rates dropped from 20,000 down to 2000 calls per month.
