UXC Connect has signed a $20 million infrastructure outsourcing contract with Melbourne Water.
Melbourne Water is owned by the Victorian government and is responsible for taking care of the city’s sewage treatment plants, drainage networks and water supply.
The three-year contract includes service desk, desktop support, network and server management, security and facilities management. A transition program has commenced and UXC Connect will start delivering services in early 2014, the ICT infrastructure vendor said.
Melbourne Water held a competitive tender process for the contract following implementation of Cisco-based common wide area network and unified communications projects.
Melbourne Water CIO Viviann Zavlanos said the businesses looked for “an organisation that [could] provide the leveraged outsourcing expertise that delivers greater value and innovation”.
“We are delighted to be working with UXC Connect, a company that meets these needs and that shares our commitment and values towards delivering an outstanding customer experience for our users.”
Melbourne Water is also equipping its field workers with mobile devices so they can directly enter data into a system as they collect it on site.
