auDA has called for expressions of interest from organisations that wish to become auDA accredited registrars.
The board of Australia's industry body overseeing domain names, au Domain Administration, released a request for expressions of interest (REOI) for Test-Bed Registrars for .au Second Level Domains on Monday.
The REOI seeks organisations that want to become auDA-accredited registrars and take part in the test-bed process. This will start once the Registry Licence Agreements have been entered into with the successful bidders under auDA's request for tender for registry operators.
Successful applicants will be provisionally accredited as registrars by auDA, and, after passing auDA's Registry/Registrar Interface Test, pay a licence fee, to become auDA accredited registrars when the new registry operator and registrar regime starts early next year.
Deadline for the REOI is November 19.
Chris Disspain, CEO auDA, said "auDA recognises that a successful test-bed process is critical to achieving a smooth transition to the new system and encourages industry players to consider participating."
